Virginia Pendergrass Oil Painter “Color is what entices me to paint”, says Virginia Pendergrass. “It's color that catches my eye”. Virginia studied with landscape painter Scott Christensen in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A member of the American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America, Virginia is an award-winning painter. She recently received 1 st Prize in the TCarts “Focus on Art” and her work was presented in the juried competition April 2005 American Art Collector, Book 4 : Artists of the Southeast. “I am an admirer of the California colorist painters. I strive for a ‘contemporary realism' - clearly identifiable subject matter rendered with loose brushwork and exuberant color. My goal is to use these principles of suggestion and color to depict beautiful scenes as they catch my eye and imagination- landscapes, still life or figure. I often paint ‘en plein air' to attempt to represent the freshness of colorful foliage, light effects and varied terrain.” You can visit Virginia's web site at |
