Susan L. Stanton

Photographer

Susan Stanton has been involved in photography since she first discovered its magic in high school where she won various contests and placed highly in the National Scholastic Art Awards Program. Although given a full scholarship to a nationally recognized photography school in Fort Lauderdale, Susan chose to pursue a career in business. She owned and operated a nationwide pharmacy, but missed her creative outlet. After being away from photography for nearly 15 years, in 2000 she was given a Nikon camera by her husband after he stumbled across her old portfolio. She hasn't put it down since.

Currently, Susan is a digital photographer in Western NC. Her work has been displayed at the Biltmore Estate and galleries across the region. She offers a line of note cards that can be found at local bookstores and gift shops. Her work has graced the cover of a nationally distributed literary fiction journal. Susan is a member of Carolina Nature Photographer's Association, sits on f/32 Photography Group of Asheville's steering committee as treasurer and head of membership, and is a founding member of the Southern Appalachian Photographer's Guild.

"As a photographer, I celebrate the beauty of nature and life through my lens. I discover beauty in intimate scenes, find richness in the mundane, and rejoice at the wonder of grand landscapes. I am continually awed by the ever-changing world. Ordinary things become extraordinary through creative lighting and unexpected angles. I hope my vision enables others to fully see and appreciate the splendor that is simply everywhere. "
