William K. “Pete” Hurt

Oil Painter

Pete Hurt is a native of Orlando Florida and is an alumnus of the University of Florida. He worked in a family insurance business until he decided to devote full time to the fine arts. He now lives in Brevard where he continues to paint.

“I feel bound through a love of the simple life to record, as honestly as I can, the colors and subjects of Central Florida and Western North Carolina, capturing the essence of a time when life seemed less stressed and more peaceful. I try to reproduce scenes from the past and interpret scenes of the present with a sensitivity that comes from a true sense of place and from the heart.”
